Book Three Update: What's Next for Ashes and Silk

I've been quiet about Book Three for a while, mostly because I didn't want to promise anything before I was sure I could keep the promise. Now that the draft has a shape I trust, here's an honest update on where things stand.

Where the Story Picks Up

Book Three opens closer to The Last File than some readers might expect — I'm not skipping ahead years or resetting the board. The consequences of Book Two are still very much live, and several threads I planted early (some readers have already guessed at a few) are finally getting pulled taut. If you finished Book Two with questions about who else knew what, and when — you were right to be suspicious.

What's Changing

Without spoiling anything, I can say the scope widens a little in Book Three. Vale House is still central, but the story steps outside its walls more than it has before, which meant doing new research into settings I haven't written yet. That's part of why this book has taken longer than I originally estimated — I'd rather get it right than get it fast.

"Every ending in this house is really just a door that hasn't been opened yet."

What's Staying Exactly the Same

The emotional core of this series — Elara and Cassian, and the impossible math of trusting someone who's lied to you before — isn't going anywhere. If you've been with them since Book One, Book Three is still their story. I'm not introducing a new couple or shifting focus away from them. Whatever else changes, that doesn't.

Timing

I'm not going to put a hard date here that I might have to walk back later — readers who've followed other series through delays know how that goes, and I'd rather under-promise. What I can say is that the draft is further along than at any previous update, and the fastest way to hear about release news the moment it's confirmed is the newsletter. That's always where announcements land first.

Thank you for staying curious about this house and these characters. Book Three is going to be worth the wait — I'm genuinely just trying to make sure it's worth exactly the right amount of it.
